We have lost a great friend and national treasure. On 18 Feb. 2017, at 12:00 Noon EST, Lt. General Lawrence Snowden passed away. In Iwo Jima, it was 2:00 AM on 19 Feb., the 72nd anniversary of the Battle of Iwo Jima. General Snowden was a personal inspiration and I will miss him dearly. --M.R. Street
The Werewolf's Daughter wins gold medal from Florida Authors & Publishers Assn.
Author M.R. Street was thrilled to accept the gold medal from FAPA President Chris Angermann and board member Mark Wayne Adams. The Werewolf's Daughter won in the Young Adult Fiction category. FAPA judges are librarians, which "Stack Rat" Street found especially gratifying. "These are the people who know what readers of all ages want to read. They are also meticulous about quality. The fact that librarians chose The Werewolf's Daughter means a lot to me."

What Lani hoped was that all of her problems with werewolves were over. But the family curse might live on, and Lisa’s father has been turned—which Lani believes is her fault. The book has a nice three-moon structure, the chapters are good lengths, and the text is well-laid out. The story is an easy read, as the paragraph logic and sentence structures are almost always working to move the reader through the story. The character development is extremely well-done. Some of my favorite moments are the scene when Lani wonders if other people are ever as normal as they look, and the moment when Lisa folds another straw-paper star, and the two girls talk about losing your belief in magic as you grow up, and how magic has now become the science/folk medicine research problem that they’re desperately trying to solve in time. Tasha makes an excellent complex villain, with her family history of helping and her own resentment and anger. And even Lisa’s father touches the reader’s heart with his appreciative, “That’s why I had a daughter.”
